For double rooms in Cary, are the beds all oriented the same way? More specifically, are the ends of the beds pointed towards each other? I would really hate to have a room where the ends of the bed are touching, too close for my comfort. I prefer each person to have their own half of the room with the middle being common ground.
You can orient your furniture in your room any way you want.
Is there any way to switch the hall your in? My hall in completely away from all the other freshman halls.
Typically no unless there needs to be medical accommodation. Calling ResLife would be your best bet though. But don’t worry it really isn’t too far!
Do BARH triple rooms with suite, shared bathrooms have showers in the bathrooms?
Yes 1 shower is shared between 6 people.

Typically in the freshman five the first floor is all male and the second and third floor one wing is male and one wing female.

There is AC in Stacwyck.

Yes they do and each roommate will have a separate key to their rooom.
Is there any way to find the dimensions of a room in Warren Hall? I would need specific sizes for each side of the room as well as the width of the divider.
At this time we do not have dimensions. ResLife may be able to help, but we do not know if they give out this information.
Are all north hall beds low to the ground or are they raised like bunks?
Beds are adjustable up to about 5 feet without lofting. Lofting (bunk bed height) is available through ResLife.
Is it possible to loft one of the dorm beds on your own or with the help of family or friends? Do you have to ask reslife to loft the bed for you?

My son will be residing in a triple at Barton Hall, How do they determine bed assignments? He is a rather large person and sleeping up top in a bunk bed would be challenging.
Bed assignments are decided among roommates. If there is an issue go to the Resident Assistant on the floor who can help.
What food places are close to North Hall?
Sage Dining Hall is the closest dining hall to North Hall. Sage Beanery is located in Sage Laboratories and is the closest food area, though they close at 3 pm.
I was curious if you enter BARH on the First Floor in every wing or are there different entrances for each wing. I am in wing A this fall on the 4th floor, so I was hoping I didn’t have to walk up that many stairs everyday.
In previous years each residence hall only has one entrance. I know for BARH they were considering multiple entrances due to size, but I do not know the status of that decision. I would call Residence Life and ask.
What parking lot is designated for RAHPs B students?
You need to get an E3 permit for $125. This is the permit for RAHPs B and allows you to park right in front of the RAHPs B apartments.
Is Quad Pardee 3001A a single room??
Yes
Do you know how big the window area is in the quad rooms on the third floor?I’m thinking about putting a small shelf unit there but I need to know the dimensions of that space.
The usable space is about 28 inches wide. It is able 12 inches deep so a small shelf unit is totally possible.
Are the wardrobes in North Hall movable? Also what is included in the room?
Yes the wardrobes are movable. You can find what is included in all dorm rooms on our homepage.

There is one closet for every single. As stated on the front page, each room includes a dresser.
Have there ever been accidents at Barton Hall involving bunk beds?
I do not believe so
In RAHPS A is Colvin or Albright closer to the academic campus?
Albright is slightly closer by a street or two

Typically they do not
How high can I raise the bed? I want it high but not bunked.
It can be raised about 4-5 feet high without bunking.
What bathroom amenities do you need to supply when living in quad? Soap, paper towels, etc.
Quad supplies toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels for floor baths
In a caldwell single do they typically have dressers or just desk drawers and the shelf unit under the bed?
It depends on the single, but there’s either a closet that’s built into the wall or a moveable dresser/cabinet. There’s also either a standalone chest of drawers or it’s the drawers found underneath the bed
One of the Barton pictures show a room with three raised beds, instead of a bunk bed and lofted bed set up. I’m assigned one of the larger Barton rooms. Is it now possible to have all the beds unlofted? Can my roommates and I do it ourselves?
Barton rooms are all the same size, give or take a couple square feet. They’re all triples, and they’re all three raised beds by default. The bunk and lofted bed setup was used before last school year. You can still opt to bunk two of the beds or loft any of them, but there’s a fee associated with doing so—I can’t remember the fee off the top of my head, but it was something around the $150 mark
Hi, if I found a roommate to room with but we want a suite, do we also have to find 2 other roommates?
No you do not.
When will freshmen be notified of where they will be dorming?

Do first floor apartments in Stackwyck have living room windows? It doesnt look like it from the drawings. It loiks like each bedroom has a window, but not the living rooms.
I think you are correct, the first floor living rooms do not have windows. I think that is because of the hill and how they are not fully above ground.
I’m an incoming transfer student for next year (rising sophomore). I’m going to have to live on campus, so I’m curious as to which residence halls are available for transfer students to live in and if there’s anything that resembles apartment living.
Apartment living can be found in Stacwyck, Bryckwyck, RAHPS A or B and Polytechnic. We do not specifically have a dorm for transfer students.
Which Hall is the one with triples?
Barton Hall is all triples. BARH sometimes has forced triples as well.
Does Warren have the same bookshelf storage as the dividing wall for the room like Davison or Nugget or is it a different kind of wall?
The wall is different. For some, the closet and dresser are built in like in like the freshman five. Other parts show a cork board. Feel free to look at the pictures here.
BARH seems pretty separated from the rest of the campus. Do a lot of BARH residents find that the distance is an issue, or is it not as big a deal as it seems? Thanks
It depends on who you ask. I know people that don’t mind the extra 3-5 minute walk, and I know people that find it annoying and wish they didn’t live there. In general, I would say it isn’t a big deal.
At RPI, are there specific residence halls for females only or are all halls co-ed only? Are there specific floors for females only? Asking as an incoming freshman- Thank you!
All of the residence halls are co-ed. If the halls are floor bathrooms, one wing will be for females and one for males. If the halls are suite bathrooms, the two rooms sharing the bathroom will be the same gender, but across the hall may be a different gender.
In Rahps A does the maintenance clean the bathroom/ provide toilet paper? And does the kitchen come with a microwave? Thank you
RAHPs A no microwave is provided. Maintenance does not clean your bathroom or provide toilet paper.

Each Quad room is slightly different but with a single room you only have one closet typically. Each room consists of a closet/wardrobe, bed, desk and dresser.

Each room in Blitman has a bathroom.
Are there washers and dryers at RAHP A? Or are they at outside of building? If so, is it far away?
There are laundry facilities for RAHPs, but they are not in your actual apartment. Depending on where your apartment is located, you may have to walk further than others.
How are lottery numbers assigned for housing applications?
Randomly within each class year.
Does Blitman have singles? How hard is it to get blitman’s single as a rising sophomore?
Blitman is mainly composed of doubles.
Which of the second year dorms has the reputation of being the best dorm? I understand that it depends on the person, but is there often a few general dorms that are preferred over others?
Again, there is no best dorm. Some students prefer apartment style living their sophomore year so RAHPs and Stacwyck are appealing.
Will North and E-complex be open for sophomores next year (2017-18)?
North is for freshmen. E-complex is for upperclassmen.
Can sharp roommates be both guys and girls? Its suite style so I don’t see why they wouldn’t allow it but I don’t know.
In previous years Sharp has not been allowed to be gender neutral, but the locations change each year. In order to apply for gender neutral you must have a one-on-one meeting with Assistant Dean, Brooke Surprenant, who will also be able to answer your previous question.
About how much wall space do you have? Can you hang things such as pictures, posters, flags, etc. on them?
The specific amount of wall space differs per room and how you set up your furniture. You can cover 10% of your wall with items while still passing fire and safety inspection. That being said no tapestries, flags or anything of that nature will pass fire and safety inspection.
